Since 2003, Lands Energy Consutling and HyMet have worked together to provide a number of clients in the energy and water sectors with a valuable weekly forecast of the seasonal runoff volume for the Columbia River and major tributaries. Information for this year's forecast can be found below or at Hymet, Inc.

For the 2007-08 Forecast Season, the forecasts will be provided directly to the customers by HyMet. Lands Energy is providing support during the sign-up period and will consult with Wendell and Birbal during the forecast season. If there are questions about the forecasting service, you may contact us here at Lands Energy, or may contact HyMet directly. A sample forecast from the 2006-07 forecasts season can be downloaded here.

This year, HyMet is offering a Columbia River regulated flow and generation forecast service along with the runoff forecasts. This additional forecast, which uses the runoff forecast and other factors as inputs, will be distrbuted on Wednesdays each week. For a summary of the generation forecast service, please read this Report on FloGen.

The HyMet model forecasts stream flow, snowmelt, and runoff of watersheds located in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the world. Hydroelectric utilities, energy traders, and irrigation districts are the main users of the model's results.
